Outcast Band
The term “Kossith” is uncommonly known among most Thedosians. A few isolated groups of these tall, horned people wander Thedas, exiled from—or perhaps never part of—any coherent Kossith enclave. They live as nomads, mercenaries, or raiders, rarely staying in one place for long.
Environment
These outcast bands have no permanent homeland. They range across frontier territories, coastal inlets, or forest margins, setting up temporary camps whenever they find sufficient game and resources. Because they are few in number and unfamiliar with local geography, they often pick locales that can be easily abandoned—hidden glens, cavernous ruins, or old fortifications left behind by other civilizations.

Survival tactics vary. Some groups hunt and forage, bartering surplus pelts or animal products for iron tools, while others raid poorly defended villages if desperation strikes. Constant motion defines these bands; once local hostility rises or resources dwindle, they move on.
Culture & Society
Although shaped by their Kossith physiology—tall stature, horns, and robust constitution—these outcasts share no unifying doctrine. Instead, each band forms a loose social code, honoring basic bonds of loyalty and mutual protection. Leadership rests with the strongest or most cunning individual, who decides on travel routes, negotiations, and combat engagements.

They craft basic weaponry from scavenged steel or carved bone, lacking the advanced forges found in large settlements. Storytelling around campfires might preserve distant fragments of some ancient Kossith past, but memory is scattered and incomplete. The sense of exile or outcast status from their homeland, a distant island, unites them more than any grand tradition.
Politics
Because they are disjointed, Kossith outcast bands do not coordinate across Thedas. Each group fends for itself, occasionally striking bargains with local warlords to serve as short-term mercenaries or hired muscle. Suspicion and fear from other peoples—human, elven, or dwarven—often results in violence or forced flight. Some outcasts avoid contact unless absolutely necessary, fueling rumors of horned giants prowling the wilds.

Those more diplomatic might trade with remote villages, offering scouting services or guard duty. But trust is scarce; many Kossith outcasts see betrayal lurking in every shadow, while locals view them as dangerous curiosities best kept at arm’s length.
