Bloodline

Each Book (season) lasts roughly 6 IRL months. At the mid-point of a Book, the timeline advances 2–15 years in Thedas for the half-season. At the end of a Book, the timeline advances 20-100+ years in Thedas.

This means players can retire, or finalize the fate of their current characters. Or, if they're not too old already, continue playing them in an elderly state within the second half of the season.

Your new character could be a descendant, apprentice, heir, or spiritual successor to your previous character. If your old character is still alive but “off-screen,” you can decide how that influences your new PC's backstory.

I. Bloodline Points

To keep track of how much “inheritance” a new character gets, we use the Bloodline Points (BP) system.

a.  At the end of the Book, each retiring character that has existed for more than 2 weeks earns Bloodline Points based on their achievements.

b. Staff can award between 1–20 additional BP depending on your character's overall impact.

c. All eligible characters get at least 2 BP for existing. If you retire a character earlier than the Book ending, they may receive less or none, being handled on a more case-by-case basis.

d. Additional BP comes from:

Leading a Faction Aligned clan (+2)

Owning a significant settlement, base, or RP hub (+2)

Being apart of a Faction Aligned clan (+1)

Aiding in running a significant settlement, base, or RP hub (+1)

Slaying Major threats or participating in major events (+1)

Holding roleplay events (+1 per significant event)

....and so on, adjusted for impact on the server.

e. Each new PC can only draw from one old character's BP. Unless your character had a partner in the Book and both players agree to pool your points for one character to receive and represent your descendant.

f. You could retire a character, not use their BP for a season, and then use them in a later season or for a different character in that same season.

II. Inheritance Perks

When you retire your old character and create your new character for the next Book, you can spend your BP on various Inheritance Perks. These are listed below.

Silver: For 1 BP, gain 50 Silvers

Experience Tokens: For 1 BP, gain 4 Experience Tokens

Language: For 5 BP, gain 1 extra language of your choice. This can only be used once.

Clan Inheritance: For 3 BPselect a Tier One Clan Perk for your clan to start with. If you join a clan, as in you are not its Leader, you can give them this selected perk.

Heirloom: For 10 BP, start with an Heirloom to represent your character's lineage. It can be flavored as your character having a relic weapon or set of armor passed down or something your character simply found or stole that was once tied to your previous character's bloodline. Heirloom weapons are listed here

III. Retire Template

The following format will be used for a Retire Character Ticket.

IV. Example Flow

1. Staff finalized big story events. Characters wrap up their arcs. The Book ends.

2. Player opens a Retiring Ticket and that character is awarded 7 BP. (i.e., 17 total: 2 base +15 for major achievements such as being a clan leader (+2), being in a Faction aligned clan (+1), owning a notable RP hub (+2), being there to beat the Archdemon (+1), and having hosted a lot of tournaments and feasts for the server (+11)

3. New Book Launch with a time skip of 50 years.

4. Player opens a Whitelist Ticket and requests to use those 17 BP from their retired character. Although not a direct descendant, they are still using that BP for this new character. They spend the BP on...

A total of 100 Silver for 4 BP.

A total of 6 Experience Tokens for 3 BP.

Clan Perks Herbalists and Deft Hands, which they later make a ticket for to give to a clan they join, for 10 BP

Totaling 17 BP spent!
