Seekers
An elite, secretive order of the Orlesian Chantry. Warrior-inquisitors who serve not just to uphold the law, but to pierce illusion, root out corruption, and reveal hidden threats to the faith. Internal, and external.

Where Templars enforce structure and dogma, Seekers walk through their brothers and sisters to assess their actions, then stride above politics. They are empowered to act where others hesitate or require order. They are the flame that purifies and the scalpel that dissects the rot at the heart of power.

Unlike Templars, Seekers are not bound to Chantry authorities or those managing a Circle. Their mandate is universal, drawn directly from Divine Justinia I herself. Their loyalty is to the Chantry's vision, not its bureaucracy.

In the eyes of many, Seekers are legend given flesh: incorruptible, unflinching, and immune to the influences that sway chieftains, kings, emperors, and Magisters alike. Behind their veiled hoods and silence lies a harder truth. They have seen the worst Thedas has to offer and must endure the fearful or resentful looks cast their way without request for pity.

The Seekers are few in number. Their missions quiet. They assess, report, and correct. Their only chain of command is to the Divine, but some say they answer to the Maker directly.
Abilities
Seekers of Truth, unlike Templars, are not enhanced through controlled consumption of Lyrium Dust. Instead, Seekers undergo an even more arduous and isolating Vigil—a brutal, mind-altering trial that separates them from emotion, fear, and spiritual temptation. It is said after the Vigil, a Seeker cannot be possessed by a demon, no matter the strength of the Fade.

Through their training, Seekers become immune to mind control, illusions, and most magical coercion. They are taught not to simply resist magic, but to pierce through it. They recognize all lies and dispel enchantments as effortlessly as breathing.
Unlike Templars, who reinforce reality by negating the Fade, Seekers walk through it, unbothered and untouched.

Older Seekers have retained fragments of Inquisition teachings—rituals that let them interrogate spirits, track others in the world, and limit the ability of Mages to use Invocation and Mysticism abilities.

Veteran Seekers can discern demonic influence with a mere glance, sense emotions of individuals in a crowd, and break magical bindings that confound even Magisters. Where Templars carry shields, Seekers see no need. They are the truth, and the truth should never hide.

Duties
Seekers are deploy directly by the Divine, acting as the Chantry's eyes and hands where Templars are its swords and shields. Their presence is rare, often unannounced, and never ornamental. When a Seeker of Truth arrives, something has already gone wrong—or is about to.

The responsibilities of a Seeker:
-
Investigate Templar Orders for signs of corruption, addition, or political manipulation
-
Root out apostates
-
Expose those who misuse the authority of the Chantry
-
Interrogate prisoners who require the Seeker's attention
-
Execute summary judgement in dire situations where other authority would require too extensive of time to be reached

Seekers of Truth are not bound to a single Templar Chapter or hierarchy. Their authority, while not absolute, is close to it. In Orlais, they are feared by the powerful; in Tevinter, they are given great rebuke for their overreach of jurisdiction; in Ferelden, they are seen as foreign authority attempting to dictate matters not their own.

A Seeker typically operates alone, but they may work in pairs. Their uniform is intentionally understated in most circumstances. The Seeker's Eye is worn visibly upon the chest if in uniform. They carry no shields nor ornate weaponry. Their power lies in certainty, not spectacle.
